The Metaverse is an alternative internet universe totally immersive that allows you to connect with other people in a unique way. This world will allow users to actually embody experiences and not just look at them through a screen.
This technology is being developed further and further over the years and it’s becoming a real possibility in the future, which will change the way we interact with others in many different aspects of our lives, in both social and business ways. What is it?
As mentioned above, Metaverse is multi-technology combining virtual reality, augmented reality and video that allows you to fully immerse into a totally unique digital universe where environments can be created. You can interact in that world with friends as an avatar and fully experience that environment as if you were there in reality. This can potentially revolutionize the way we interact and experience things with others, the way we learn, the way we work together and much more. It can also create the possibility of being with people who are miles and miles away from you.

How can it be used?
The possibilities of Metaverse are quite vast as it can be used in many industries in many different ways. Let’s start with an example, let’s say your company employs people from around the world and you want to have a meeting or even a team building event that everybody can attend. However booking all flights and places to stay can be costly and some people might not be able to travel on those specific dates. You can then host the event in the metaverse world, everybody gets their VR glasses on and as avatars they can all experience the event together in the same environment while interacting with each other or individually with just one or two people. This is the first time you can get the feel of actually being present and mingle with whomever you want without leaving your own house.
With this technology the possibilities are endless, you can host parties, meetings, social events, you can even play sports together or create a virtual office where everyday you work with your co-workers in the same environment and get to have the office experience without leaving you home.

Benefits?
Let’s say we use the same example as above. A remote company who employs people from all around the world would probably only rely on video calls to interact with colleagues and attend meetings. With Metaverse you can create an office in this digital world and go to work everyday and experience the office life without the commute, without relocating. For a regular office to turn into a digital metaverse office, the benefits are quite high: it is environmentally friendly as workers would not have to commute everyday, workers would be able to live anywhere in the world they want and therefore they would be happier, companies would not have to spend millions of euros yearly in office rent and everybody would still be able to connect and interact with each other normally as they would in an office.
In terms of Metaverse in the learning industry, the possibilities are quite impressive as students can actually study subjects up close, for example if you are studying history, you can actually travel in the Metaverse world to ancient Rome and anywhere in time and study how people lived back then etc. In the medical field, students can actually perform practical tests and collaborate with other students from miles away.
